Revealing the Resurrection

Happy Resurrection Day!!!

Of course many people associate today’s holiday (Easter) with pagan practices.  However, the actual truth of the matter is found in the comprehensive celebration of 3 of Israel’s spring feasts.   Below is an explanation of those three feasts in the Old Testament and how they are connected with Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection in the New Testament.  These excerpts are from my book Revelation Rightly Revealed (R3).   Visit http://www.amazon.com/dp/1478770767  to obtain your copy.

Passover

Old Testament Practice

This event served to commemorate the Israelites’ final night in Egyptian bondage when the death angel smote all of the firstborn of Egypt, but passed over all of the homes that had the blood of the Lamb applied to its door posts. This was indicative of salvation for the Old Testament people of God-Israel. The blood kept the people of God from destruction and it provided a means of deliverance from the enemy.

Jesus’ Fulfillment in the New Testament-

Jesus was crucified to serve as the sacrificial lamb on Passover. This is necessary for salvation for the New Testament believer. It protects us from the destruction of Satan and hell. In addition it delivers us from the power of Satan and the curse of sin.

Unleavened Bread

Old Testament Practice

The day following Passover began this feast. The Israelites were to eat unleavened bread for seven days. Because it is unleavened bread, it’s free from any additives. As a result, the fact they were commanded to eat it without leaven demonstrates emptiness, purity, and consecration to God. Furthermore, the children of Israel had to place/hide the bread in an oven to bake it before they consumed it. The baking involved fire which would purify and process the bread.

Jesus’ Fulfillment in the New Testament

Jesus was the bread of life. He told his followers they would have to eat his flesh to have eternal life. We know that his body was holy and consecrated unto the Lord. It was placed/hidden in the tomb and his soul went to hell. He escaped/resurrected from the tomb and he completed the processing in hell (the fire) and came forth with the keys to death and hell.

FirstFruits

Old Testament Practice

Once Israel sowed seed in the Promised Land and began to reap, they were to bring the firstfruits of the harvest and give to the priest who would then present it to God.

Jesus’ Fulfillment in the New Testament- Jesus was the firstfruits and firstborn among many brethren. This was exemplified when He was sown/buried into the earth and then reaped or resurrected. When He resurrected from the grave, serving in the role of perfect high priest, he presented himself unto God as the firstfruits.

Signs of the Lord’s Coming Pt.2

The second example Jesus uses to compare the conditions of the time when he returns is the time of Lot.

Luke 17:28-30
28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.
30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

How were the days of Lot? We can find the description in Genesis Chapter 19.

Sexual Perversion/Homosexuality– we discover the wickedness of Sodom is so bad it has reached heaven. One specific example of the unrighteousness we see here is a very strong, intense spirit of homosexuality. Our current generation is facing this same issue.

Easily Offended– in Genesis 19:9 we read the following, “This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge”. They were offended because Lot was trying to protect the angels and forbid them from committing the evil homosexual act. Many individuals in this generation always complain of people “judging them” when you tell them they are doing something wrong. Jesus stated in Matthew 24 that men would be “offended” in the last days.

Life was normal until the day Lot and his family left Sodom. God had an escape plan for his people but the sinners were destroyed. Notice they were not totally removed from the earth but they were able to escape the fire and brimstone which fell upon Sodom.

Signs of the Lord’s Coming Pt.1

The Lord gives two specific examples of the conditions of society right before his return. The first example compares it to the time of Noah.

Luke 17:26-27
26 And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.
27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.

How were the days of Noah? You can find this in Genesis Chapter 6. Let’s analyze it.

Sexual Perversion– the fallen angels procreated with women and produced a genetically mutated species. We see sexual perversion today like never before. Marriage is becoming taboo.
2 The sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

Genetic Alteration– the union of the fallen angels and women created giants which were literally possessed by the spirit of fallen angels. Because of this, these were very strong and powerful beings. They were considered “renown” or famous just as Satan is controlling men today and making them strong, powerful, and famous. In addition, we see doctors/scientists tampering with cells in an attempt to create any type of child an individual desires and the rise of sex reassignment surgeries.
4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

Continuous wickedness– you can listen to the radio or view on the TV/internet evil and unrighteous material 24 hours a day/7 days a week.
5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Corruption/Violence– there is corruption in government and various places and violence all over the world. During Noah’s time the fallen angels had taught man how to create weapons, use dyes/makeup, and practice astrology, sorcery/witchcraft. These things corrupted (altered) the earth. Today the same things are occurring: mechanical/technological warfare, tattoos/makeup, and occult/witchcraft/astrology.
11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.
12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.
13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

Life was normal until the day Noah and his family went into the ark. God had an escape plan for his people but the sinners were destroyed. Notice they were not totally removed from the earth but they were protected just as the people of God will also be protected during the Tribulation Period.

SciFi vs Spirituality

I’m not sure if you have noticed but lately Hollywood has been creating many Apocalyptic/SciFi movies about the end of the world and an alien invasion. This is being done to prepare us for what’s to come.

Let’s look at four interesting concepts explored in many of these movies.

1. Aliens supernaturally infiltrating the human race and using people’s bodies’ as hosts
. In Christianity this aligns with the born again experience whereas the Spirit of God supernaturally fills a believer’s temple and begins to use that person as a vessel for his glory.

2. Aliens coming into the earth’s atmosphere to abduct those people who were serving as hosts or who they desire to utilize as hosts. In Christianity this concept aligns with the First Resurrection or the Rapture as it is called. This is when the Lord is going to descend into the earth’s atmosphere at the sound of the 7th trumpet to redeem the born again believers and sealed Jewish remnant.

3. Aliens invading the earth to conquer and rule over all of humanity. Here again is another Christian concept being exemplified. This is going to be the inheritance phase where Jesus along with the saints of God are going to come to earth to establish his millennial kingdom in this realm.

4. All of the world’s armies will come together to oppose this alien takeover. This illustrates the battle of Armageddon where all the kings and countries of this world unite to fight against Jesus and the armies of heaven.

The Grace Dispensation

There are two separate aspects of the Grace Dispensation.

The first phase of the Grace Dispensation is the Gentile part whereas salvation is available to all nations including Israel. This began at the day of Pentecost with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and will continue to the latter portion of this age. The second phase is the Jewish part whereas salvation is reserved for only the 144,000/remnant Jews located throughout the world. This will occur sometime during the final prophetic week (7 years) of this age.

What will take place is a shift/transition during the Grace Dispensation whereas salvation will come to an end and be completed for the “Gentiles” and it will return to “Physical Israel”. This concept is illustrated in Revelation 7 where the 144,000 Jewish remnant is sealed followed by the innumerable multitude (born again believers) who appear out of nowhere before the throne and in Revelation 14 where we see Jesus along with the 144,000 on Mount Zion followed by the angel with the everlasting gospel.

Jesus’ Second Return

Sometime after “The First Resurrection” the saints of God will return to earth riding white horses along with Jesus to physically “inherit” all of the kingdoms of this world which had already been legally/spiritually succeeded to him after he defeated/spoiled Satan and was exalted by the Father above all principalities and powers.

Upon returning to the earth realm with Jesus, there will be the Battle of Armageddon which occurs when the kings of the earth and their armies gather themselves together to make war with Jesus and the saints. The battle is really very quick. Jesus takes the beast and false prophet, places them in the lake of fire and brimstone that was created by the stars/angels which fell from heaven, and slays the remaining people with his sword that proceeded from his mouth. In addition, the Lord will release a plague on the people who fought against Jerusalem. It will cause their flesh to consume away while they stand on their feet and their eyes shall consume away in their holes and their tongues shall consume away in their mouths and the same plague will affect the beasts, horses, camels and other animals. Then, the fowls of the air will eat what’s left of the men and animals flesh. Also, the Lord will cause a riot among the people and they will turn against each other.

Following this battle, the saints will help to establish and implement Jesus’ global kingdom of peace (his main headquarters will be in Jerusalem) as prophesied in the scripture.

Jesus’ First Return

Jesus’ first return will be for what’s called “redemption”.  This event is also called The First Resurrection, The Day of Redemption, The Gathering, and The Coming of the Lord.

The word redemption is the act of ransoming and rescuing someone.  Both definitions are relevant to us within the context of salvation.  Jesus gave his life as a “ransom” or payment for many.  He was able to buy us back from the captivity and ownership of the devil.  In addition, at the First Resurrection he’s going to “rescue” /”redeem” the born again believers who were sealed by the Holy Ghost and washed by the blood of Jesus in preparation for redemption and the 144,000 Jewish remnant who God redeemed from the earth and the angel sealed in preparation for redemption.

What will take place is Jesus will descend from heaven riding on a cloud at the sound of the seventh trump of God that’s blown by an angel.  The dead in Christ will resurrect and the born again believers who are alive will meet him in the air.  In addition, the 144,000 sealed or remnant Jews will be “gathered” or “taken” by the angles into the presence of the Lord.

All of these individuals (the dead in Christ, the alive born again believers, and the 144,000 Jews) will disappear into heaven with the Lord.
