Cold Love

Over 2000 years ago Jesus made the following statement regarding the climate of the end-time, ” And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.”  God recently gave me some tremendous insight into this one passage of scripture which is so relevant to our current time.

Let’s first analyze the words in bold print.

Iniquity– gross injustice, lawlessness, wicked acts, & sin.

Abound- to occur/exist in great quantities.

Love– God revealed to me how it has four basic components.  1. Passion-desire, fervent positive energy, affection, and adoration.  2. Compassion- the ability to demonstrate/show acts of mercy and kindness to others especially those who are suffering or experiencing difficulty.  3. Sympathy- to share feelings and a concern for someone else who is enduring hardship although you have never experienced the same or a similar experience. 4. Empathy– to psychologically identify with and show a concern for someone else who is enduring hardship because you have experienced the same or a similar experience.

Cold- lacking in passion, not affectionate, unfriendly, and unresponsive.

In essence, what Jesus was saying was that in the end-times because gross injustices, lawlessness and wicked acts would occur/exist in great quantities, then people would lose their passion, compassion, sympathy, and empathy for others.  Those attributes of love would be replaced with lack of passion, lack of affection, unfriendliness, and unresponsiveness.

I’d say we are truly living in the end times.
